Allergy Reality Music Launch TODAY!

WOW!  What an EXCITING day!  Our original Allergy Reality Music created by the TALENTED Heather Parker has officially LAUNCHED on ITUNES today!  This is the amazing music that you hear in our app.

Music is an amazing tool to teach children and adults!  The Allergy Reality soundtrack does just that.  It teaches kids and adults about their food specific allergen through key words and root words, while also teaching some of the main food item to stay away from to stay healthy.  The soundtrack features seven songs; one for each of the featured allergens in the app (gluten, dairy, nuts, soy and eggs) and it even has a bonus track!

We are so excited for you and your family to be singing and dancing to these fun and catchy songs.  Food allergies, intolerances and Celiac Disease can be difficult.  It can be isolating and make kids and adults feel hopeless, but that is about to change!  The Allergy Reality Music along with the Allergy Reality App will empower and educate not only food allergy suffers but family members, caregivers, classmates and friends!

We want all who suffer with food allergies, intolerance, Celiac disease or have to be on a restricted diet to feel empowered and special and know that they are not alone in this journey!   DOWNLOAD IT TODAY! Go get your songs on the ITunes store just SEARCH HEATHER PARKER: ALLERGY REALITY or use the QR CODE below.  Your kids will be singing them and learning all day long!

Allergy Shmallergy… Check it out!

We have read countless allergy blogs over the years and by far Allergy Shmallergy is one of our favorites!  The creator of Allergy Shmallergy is Erin Malawer.  She is a food allergy management expert who serves on the Food Allergy Task Force at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington DC.  Erin advises pharmaceutical companies, tech start-ups, restaurants, camps, food services as well as families and individuals on food allergies.  She has also become a big supporter and fan of our upcoming app and is becoming our dear friend.  She has big things in the works and we can’t wait for you all to hear more about them!

Here is her story!

Born a severely allergic child, my son first reacted to milk at six months old and was officially diagnosed with a wide array of food allergies by fifteen months.  I was overwhelmed.  Like many parents, I didn’t grow up with food allergies (nor did anyone I knew).  Throughout my pregnancy I had imagined that we’d one day make cookies together, maybe sneak in a bite of pizza.  But with milk, egg, soy, wheat, peanut, tree nut, corn and sesame seed allergies (nevermind his allergy to my two dogs!), those dreams felt impossible.  I deeply mourned the loss of these hopes and visions until my husband helped me regain perspective, reminding me that there MUST be a way around all of it.

My husband’s voice of reason echoed in my head and I soon began researching and speaking with other parents.  It took time, but we figured out that way around – a way that works for our family.    My personal philosophy on food allergies was born out of necessity:  Not only did the allergies mean that I had to look out for our son physically, but I was worried about him psychologically.  I wanted him to understand the dangers of his allergies and take them seriously, but not live in fear of the world around him.  It was important to me that he didn’t feel “different” because he had food allergies.  We underscore the fact that everyone’s body is unique;  his just can’t have certain foods.  So, he and I are vigilant about keeping safe, but we shrug it off when he can’t eat something.

In short:  Allergy, shmallergy!   Living safely with food allergies doesn’t slow us down and I hope this blog makes it easier for you and your family as well!

Test Flight Party!

We just had to share with you some of the pictures from our party! Last week we had our amazing TestFlight party where our friends and family could play our app for the first time! We had an amazing turnout and even better feedback! We can’t wait for all of you to play the app too! It’s going to be out SO soon.

We have even added some fun new items and some yummy new treats!!!!

Allergy Reality: Meet Our Inspiration!

Many of you are probably wondering why in the world we would create an app for food allergies……..RIGHT?  WELL… we are two mamas that struggled to understand the allergy and intolerances our children faced.  We recognized the great need for additional resources that are positive and fun. To support this need, we have created Allergy Reality, a fun and interactive gaming app to teach kids and adults about food specific allergies, intolerances and Celiac Disease.

As may of you know Coral has a daughter with Celiac disease and two other children with food allergies. Megan has a son with a dairy intolerance and Heather, our music artist (who created our six original songs for the app) has a son with food allergies.  We are all mamas that needed to find a FUN and POSITIVE way to teach our children and their loved ones about food allergies, intolerances and more!  Our little ones were our inspiration for the app to come to fruition!

In honor of our kiddos and so many others out there with food allergies, intolerances and Celiac Disease we have put our kids as characters in the game to make it personal and to show that food allergies ARE A REAL THING!!! You can see all our cute little kids below in the app!  Aren’t they SO CUTE! And now when you play, you will know that Chanelle, Logan and Tred are playing right there with you!

We Want Your Opinions…

As our app is preparing to launch VERY soon, we want your opinions on what our users (YOU) want to see!  Please comment below if you want to become a beta tester and be one of the first to play ALLERGY REALITY!

Allergy Reality is an educational gaming app, it teaches the user how to navigate their food allergy by deciphering food labels and gamifying learning with word scrambles and matching games. The app features main food allergies including gluten, dairy, nuts, soy, and egg. Each level is comprised of colorful, delicious looking food and makes eating allergy free tasty and fun!

Allergy Reality invites the player to choose which allergen they want to avoid and then open the fridge, or take a trip to the pantry. Once inside, players have a chance to choose which foods are safe to eat for their “reality”. Players race against the clock trying to beat each level to earn their allergy badge.

Allergy Reality Music takes food allergies to a new and exciting level that everyone will be singing along to while they learn. Six original jingles and songs created by Heather Parker will be available through the sub-brand “Allergy Reality Music.” Each allergy has its own original song to highlight key tips and strategies to teach through music, just another way that Allergy Reality can reach out and educate.  Available on ITunes and CD.
